Help me with info on this trumpet?

    We had someone bring in an old Boosey & Hawkes 606 Trumpet to the bandroom tonight
    for a bit of TLC. Once the valves had been unstuck and re-felted it played really very nicely
    indeed. It's a lacquered trumpet with the odd silvered bit of pipework and a ring as
    opposed to a fingerhook. It's in need of a bottom cap if anyone can point us towards
    a possible source?

    My query is basically whether anyone can tell me if this is a student instrument or not;
    and if anyone knows roughly when 606s were made we'd like to let our player know.

    I know about the Music Trader website which could allow us to date it but unfortunately
    didn't take a note of the trumpet's serial number :( We think it could be around 30 years old.

    A lot of tMPers refer to Windcraft for spares.

    You must be psychic - I was just this minute looking at their page of 606 spares and saw that they stocked a bottom cap for it, only a couple of quid as well. I'll pass that on to our player next time I see him.

    Cheers
