Nice article, not without a little wit here and there, but written with the utmost respect to our movement too! I've a couple of books by Matthew Engels and his writing, on whatever subject, is always thoughtful yet thought provoking. Bravo!

A well-considered and intelligently written article.
    Makes a pleasant change

Amen, a well thought out article, and not a hint of stereoptyping.

    This is class journalism

I enjoyed that. The nod to the stereotype as a mark of years past is far more constructive - and accurate - than the recent piece in the times which treated it as the current state of affairs.

this is a theme of journalism we should be promoting in the movement, a nod to the past but not restrictive to the movements future. Far better than the shock jock tactic the BBC are employing.

Good to see that they sing the praises of a young player.

    And an old one.

tuba player Fiona Timms no longer draws comments for her lemonade or gin and tonic. Is there still chauvinism?

Without wishing to be ungallant, Fiona is nearly as old as me.

    Well done lass on bass.

Its good to see them give Jamie the credit he deserves, he is a sensational player with a cornet sound to rival anyone of any age in any band and a he's a nice guy to boot...

He is however a Burnley Fan, its such a terrible shame for him.

My wife would like to thank her former partner in crime for letting the world know that she is maturing nicely!!
Some would say like a good wine - but I'm sure you will find plenty of references to CHEESE!

It was great to have the FT with us in the build-up to and on the day of the contest. Was really pleased with the article and the positive light in which it showed both our band and banding in general.

I concur with everything posted here about Jamie.

    Dear Mr Edge

Sorry to hear about the cheese.

Has Mrs Edge tried a Canesten pessary?

    Always works for me.
