Just noticed on the Grimethorpe website that the Solo Horn slot is vacant. Anyone know where Arfon Owen has gone?

    Hey Nigel

:) Everybody's telling jokes this afternoon!!!!!

I must admit I wondered how long it would be before someone came up with that one, lol!!!!

I'm sure I wouldn't even get half way through their rehearsal before I was being politely asked to get in my car and return down south. :)

Having played at Grimethorpe for a number of years, I cant remember anyone being asked to leave politely!

  8. Evening all.

Having waited for an official statement to be made by Grimethorpe for a little while now, I just thought I would take this opportunity to confirm that I and Grimethorpe have politely parted company after nearly three years.

I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure, and having been at Black Dyke and Grimethorpe for 7 years collectively, I have now decided to am take a breather for a while!

I would like to thank Grimethorpe for the time I was there, and I wish them all success for the future.

Its so refreshing to read an honest plain statement for a change. It cuts out all the intrigue and speculation.

7 years! That's quite literally years. You must be exhausted.

Give both Bands' output 7 years would be like 20 for other bands.

Arf, best of luck with the future, and a shame you wont be joining the Wallberg crew this year. I'll have to make up alternative lyrics for Force of Destiny then.... :)
  13. Thanks Richard, and I am more than a little bit gutted I can't be at the Swiss Open this year, doesnt fall in the school holidays you see!

Both Dyke and Grimethorpe are two bands I had always dreamed of playing for (as Im sure it is for many banders!), never in a million years did I think I'd actually get the chance having never played above 3rd section at Menai Bridge until I went to RNCM, to 2nd horn at Dyke! more than a bit of a culture shock!

Anyway, sorry not meant to be an obituary!

Well if you are bored over the summer Arfon, you're always welcome back at Menai Bridge and seeing as your mum is still the secretary, we won't audition you!

Seriously though, totally understand the need for a break, just hope you don't spend too long away from it and see you at home over the summer!

you'll have to make do with me instead rich :(

Best of luck Arfs, I have a feeling you will be dragged kicking and screaming back into the game before long ;)
And if not, hit me up for some more politically incorrect duets..
