Gresley's First Junior Band Member to make Contest Debut

    Gresley Old hall Band are very pleased to announce that the first of the Junior Band Members will be making there contest debut with the band at this weekends Butlins Contest.
    Joe Southgate(17) who plays Eb Bass with the band will be swapping instruments to be part of the percussion section.
    This came about with the band needing another percussion player, Joe said that he had played percusssion at school in music lessons, this was met with full approval from conductor David Hutchinson and all of the Gresley Band.
    The Gresley Juniors have now been formed just over 3 years and 2/3 members sit in during a Thursday practise each week,it is hoped that all been well this year a few more will be starting to come through into the senior band.
    This will be Joe's very first brass band contest and he said he is looking forward to it.
    Also at the Butlins contest will see the bands two summer signings Paul Bucknall (Repiano) ,who joined from Rolls Royce Derby Band and Colin Ragget (Bb Bass) who joined from Wigston Band, make there apperance with the band at the contest, plus will see the bands new principal cornet player Fran Bowman leading the band,she took over from Graham Croft in the summer months as well.
