I went up to Manchester yesterday and as I had to return before the evening I only listened to the Household Troops band, both on the march and in concert. I really enjoyed their playing - so controlled and balanced, never forced. Interesting soloists - the three featured were clarinet, vocal and tuba.

Then followed 100 young musicians between 7 and 12 years old who put on a really good performance. I hope many of them keep their interest in music in general and banding in particular.

Any other TMPers go? What did you think?
