Are you a conductor (or do you want to develop your skills as a brass band conductor) looking for an exciting challenge for 2018 and beyond?

Grange Moor Brass Band require a Musical Director, due to our esteemed MD of the last 7 years gracefully retiring from her senior band conducting role. Grange Moor are a non-contesting band, we boast a very good complement and range of friendly and committed players, and have a varied concert schedule throughout the year. If you are interested, please contact our secretary Nathan Abbotts on 07736 274 803 / nathanabbotts@hotmail.com and he will arrange an invite to take a rehearsal. We rehearse once a week on Sunday evening 7-9pm, in our own band room in Grange Moor village (WF4 4DU), and have an extensive library of music.

For further information about the band, please visit:
We look forward to hearing from you!

Grange Moor Brass Band are delighted to announce the appointment of Matthew Asher as our new Musical Director following a lengthy audition process.

Matthew joins us with huge experience in the brass band community. He currently plays percussion with Brighouse & Rastrick Band and has done for the last 9 years, but has also played with Hepworth, Yorkshire Imperial Brass Band, Yorkshire Youth Brass Band and Sellers International beginning his brass band career at Grange Moor Brass Band in 2001 at the age of 11.

Matthew studied Music at Huddersfield University and The Royal Northern College of Music and is currently Head of Music at a Manchester secondary school.

A band spokesperson said, “The whole band greatly enjoyed Matthew’s audition evening with us and we are looking forward to a bright future together.”

On his appointment, Matthew has said, “It was such an honour to be asked to conduct Grange Moor, having previously played for the band. I can’t wait to get started on a new musical adventure and give something back to the band that taught me so much at a young age.”

Matthew’s first engagement with the band will be on April 14th at Kirkheaton Chapel for our annual Spring concert to raise funds for Kirkwood Hospice.
