Have just read (on 4barsrest) that GMR Brass hosted by John Maines has been axed! I can't believe it. Have sent an email to the Managing Editor, who has replied saying the station is withdrawing all aspects of specialist music from 26th March.

That only now leaves Listen to the Band on Radio 2 which is only half an hour long.

Sounds like an ideal opportunity for the Musicman to burn some of his new-found bandwidth on a TMP Podcast?

It's very worrying. It's a bit of a late announcement is it not? Doesn't give much chance to campaign to keep it on. I'll certainly be contacting GMR about it.

Can't help thinking we're bolting the stable door after the horse is long gone again.

How many who''ll write down the address and complain about this decision are regular listeners to GMR Brass? How many of us actually tune in to Listen to the Band on a Friday night?

Can't help thinking we have only ourselves to blame.

It's alright to fight for programmes like this, but we have to tune in and support them. Listen to the Band might be next....
