GISBOURNE Bb TUBA - OLD INSTRUMENTS

    While at a quintet rehersal yesterday , I had a look at some really old instruments which played really well .
    4 Besson Prototype 3 valve Bb tubas and a unusual Gisbourne Bb tuba.
    does anyone know anything about Gisbourne ( All I can make out from the stamp is Maker of HM Band instrumets.)

    not sure if it's the same or not, but here's a photo of my band from 1909 with the Gisbourne cup.

    Interesting to see that in addition to the usual brass band related instruments, there are a few clarinets, a valve-trombone and a helicon in there

    Probably completely unrelated, but hey, it's a nice photo!
