GBBA Entertainment Contest 2010

    Entry forms and rules for the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association Entertainment Contest on February 7th 2010 are now available to download from the GBBA Website www.gbba-online.org.uk

    The contest will be run in two sections -

    Section 1 - for Nationally Graded Bands from Fourth to Championship Section
    Section 2 - for Youth, Training and Un-registered Bands

    Total entries will be restricted to 20 bands and will be allocated to the first 20 entries received.

    The adjudicator for the contest will be Dr. Chris Davis OBE.

    In answer to a couple of people who have contacted me, the GBBA Entertainment Contest is an open contest and non GBBA members are welcome to enter.

    If your band fancy spending a day in the beautiful Forest of Dean, we would love to see you.

    Entries are starting to come in fast for the GBBA Entertainment Contest on the 7th of February.

    Contest Secretaries are reminded that only the first 20 bands to enter will be allowed to compete.

    Just a gentle reminder that the closing date for entries to the GBBA Entertainment Contest on the 7th of February is fast approaching.

    The closing date is the 20th of December.

    Entries are limited to a total of 20 bands.

    Entries for the forthcoming 2010 GBBA Entertainment contest have now closed and I am pleased to report a very healthy entry of 18 bands taking part.

    The contest will be divided into two sections with open adjudication.

    Full details of timings have now been posted to all bands taking part. There will be no pre-draw for either section to try to ensure that all bands have an audience to play to.

    First band in Section 2 will commence playing at 9.30AM.

    The full list of bands competing at the 2010 GBBA Entertainment Contest is as follows:-

    First band will be on stage at 9.30.

    Good luck to everyone taking part - especially the young bands in section 2. Shame about the withdrawls, but still looks like section 1 could be very interesting.

    Not sure of the 4th section, but here goes:

    Best 4th section Band: AW Parker (Drybrook)
    2nd & 3rd : Frampton-on-Severn, Thornbury Castle (I think!!)

    Best 3rd Section Band: Corus (Port Talbot)
    2nd: Llwydcoed

    Best 2nd Section Band: City of Bristol

    Overall Results: Winning Band: Corus (Port Talbot)
    2nd: City of Bristol
    3rd: Llwydcoed

    Most entertaining Band: Corus (Port Talbot)
    Best Solo: Solo Cornet Drybrook
    Winning Conductor: Coiln Hogg, Corus (Port Talbot)

    And just a big thanks to Dave and his team for a well run and friendly Contest. Well worth the trip over the Border to England. ( Maybe we should take up Rugby!!!!!!)
