    Aldbourne Band Press Release

    Summer Prom on The Green
    Sunday 6th August

Aldbourne Band has changed the format of its long-running Pond Concert series. The Pond Concerts have been running informally from around the turn of the 20th century, and were formalised in the 1960s to 4 concerts a year, each played adjacent to Aldbourne Pond on the first Sunday of the 4 summer months. With over a century of tradition behind them the decision to move the August concert - to be played on the lovely village, green was not taken lightly.

The concert is to be presented as a Summer Prom on the Aldbourne Village green on Sunday 6th August, but importantly, starting at 4pm, running through to about 7,30. This is to provide an opportunity for families with Children to join in the event. There will be a break for refreshments, and the Blue Boar and Crown public house will be on-hand to meet any refreshment needs. There is space for people to bring picnics and deckchairs to make the most of the fine summer weather for a more relaxed evening of entertainment. Last year over 1,000 people turned-up for the August concert, and it was a terrific evening.

Most importantly, the concert is £££ FREE

Steve Sykes is on holiday, however former Musical Director David Williams has stepped in to present the concert. This will no-doubt, be enjoyed by Band and audience alike.

    Don’t forget your Union Jacks.

Since really positive results at Yeovil, The Regionals and Senior Cup the Band has maintained its busy schedule supported with musical direction from Steve Sykes. Our plans for the forthcoming months include the Wychavon Entertainment Contest and the concert with Evelyn Glennie at the Colston Hall in November.

Further details are available from our web-site

The Band currently has a vacancy for a Euphonium and a Cornet.
