Flowers gave a suitably festive LTTB programme (BBC Radio 2, 19 Dec.) for the Christmas season. Conductor Philip Harper included some of his own band arrangements — and good ones too: “Yule Dance” and “Sleighride” (the latter being reminiscent of “Lightwalk”). It’s a pity Derek Broadbent’s arrangement of “O come, all ye faithful” didn’t receive a little more rigorous editing before publication, but in Gordon Langford’s “Christmas Fantasy” I was reminded again what a fine arranger he is. The band also played “White Christmas’ (arr. Sparke) and “When a boy was born” (arr. Golland).

    Nice one Flowers!
