Not sure. Usually the lower sections get a bigger entry though I think. There was only one band competing in the Champ a couple of years ago and they didn't open it up even then.
It used to be such a good contest for many years when it was the Carnegie Invitation. Top six championship bands used to regularly attend.
Shame it's not the case now...probably down to £££? Good that there are a couple of English bands coming up to support the contest though
A couple of Irish bands have supported in recent years as well. Good acoustics in the hall for banding too.
Can i take it you have had no reply to your email then Paddy? Personally i feel this contest would benefit from adding an open tag to the sectional ones in place. It works in the Land O Burns contest which attracts a strong contingent from all sections . Why not here also?
I gather the championship and 1st section have been amalgamated. Come on someone from Fife. We don't want to know details off the pre draw, just which bands are taking part. Joe
Well that would be news to me. I've been sent the numbers of bands competing in each section and I know my own bands draw in the Championship section.

I think they're keeping the 1st and Championship sections seperate, but have changed the 1st section to a 20 minute programme instead of 15. Should be another good contest, always handy having the venue two minues from your house!
