Female Principals at the bass end

Was speaking to someone last night about euphonium players we admire and it occured to me that I cannot name a single principal female euphonium player with a top championship section band!

I know that more and more women are playing in bands, even in the bass end, but I had never considered that there are still very few and far between at the top end of banding.

Can anyone name principal euph, trom and bass players in say, the top 50 bands that are female? Partly for my own interest, but also to provide people to aspire to for the younger generations!

    Cheers

There aren't many female conductors either (other than Catherine!) in top section bands...

Can people name the principals as well as providing the band? It is usually easier to trach their playing history in future thay way!

I'd also be interested to know if there are any solo recordings from women 'bass end' players out there!

    Cheers

And while we're on the topic, Raymond Tennant has put together an all girls band in Scotland recently, called Girls Allowed. They competed at Brass in the Park in Newtongrange recently and pushed Whitburn hard, eventually coming second. My girlfriend (Fiona Gormley - principal trombone) says they're very good.

PS - ALL of their principals are females

By the way, you can catch them this Saturday evening at Clydebank Salvation Army.

Over on this side of the water, we have a similar group - the Athena Brass Band.

And the conductor of the Cincinnati Brass Band is Anita Cocker-Hunt, who is also the immediate past president of the North American Brass Band Association.

Lots and lots of very good female principals as listed above. Another 3 that spring to mind are..

Kirsty Abbotts.... fantastic principal cornet at Frickley

    and

Wendy Pickton... not sure which band she played for but what a fantastic euphonium player!!

and last but certainly not least....

My other half... Helen Geoghegan, principal euph at Haydock band... really underated player!! (and believe me that's an unbiased opinion).
