Three new comissions should is always a good thing - and should mean the resultant CD is a big seller too....

Any information on the new ones yet?

Nigel Clarke is a brilliant writer for bands. His Pendle Witches is awesome. Mind you, so is Atlantic Toccata ... both featured in earlier Festival Of Brass series.

Presumably based on something by Vivaldi?

Very much looking forward to hearing the new commisions - but even if you take them out of the equation, that's a belting good set of choices!!

I've just read that this piece is the follow on to Gagarin....should be awesome, remember him playing Gagarin at uni and it was brilliant. Couple of new works might be worth a fiver to have a boc

Does it involve half the band playing percussion instruments, like in Sinfonietta no. 4 (for fanfare orchestra)? I'm lucky I'm not playing saxophone or trumpet in that piece :)

Is the new Wilby piece being played by Dyke?
He mentioned back in february that he'd written a piece of music which uses silent brass mutes, perhaps this is it?

Not sure this is the best place to be openly pinning pieces to bands as it's still closed adjudication there. I know some bands are liberal about sharing that info, (Nigel Clarke's is pretty clear cut if you look at his website) but think it's still against tMP rules to state what bands are playing isn't it? Even if many of them are obvious :p
