With the Europeans upon on us, thought we could start a bank of predictions. Maybe a mod could set up a table similar to that used for the Area Predictions contest? Guess the top six and maybe have a stab at the total points too....two pieces, 100 points available for each one which makes...hmmmm...200 points maximum score.

    Here's a list of bands:

    Championship Section

    Brass Band Willebroek
    Conductor: Frans Violet

    Brass Band Lyngby Taarbaek
    Conductor: Ray Farr

    England (Defending Champion)
    Yorkshire Building Society Band
    Conductor: David King

    Fairey FP (Music) Band
    Conductor: Allan Withington

    Brass Band Normandie
    Conductor: Philippe Gervais

    Brass Band De Waldsang
    Conductor: Rieks van der Velde

    Northern Ireland
First Old Boys SeaCat Silver Band
    Conductor: Stephen Cairns

    Stavanger Brass Band
    Conductor: Steve Bastable

    Scottish Co-op Band
    Conductor: Nicholas Childs

    Brass Band Gothenburg
    Conductor: Bengt Eklund

    Brass Band BML Lucerne
    Conductor: Ludwig Wicky

Buy As You View Cory Band
    Conductor: Robert Childs

I will stick my neck out and guess as follows:
    1. Cory 193 points
    2. YBS 192 points
    3. Fairey FP 190 points
    4. Willebroek 186 points
    5. Stavanger 183 points
    6. Scottish Co-Op 181 points

No formula here - just pure guess work and judging on recent form. Sure YBS will be awesome but just have a funny feeling Cory may come out on top after missing out so narrowly last year. St Magnus is a very very tough test on first impressions and after listening to a number of Cory's contest performances in recent years, their preparation seems absolutely meticulous, I think maybe they may pip YBS. Who knows? I will probably be way off the mark but worth a go.

    Here's my wee predictions

    1. YBS
    2. Cory
    3. Faireys
    4. Stavanger
    5. Willebrook
    6. Co-op

Will also be interested to hear what Normandie and De Waldseng sound like, having not heard a Dutch or French band before, Luzern should be pretty damn good too, went to the Swiss Open with kingdom last year and Swiss bands have such precison in their playing.

Overall it should be a helluva contest, I can't wait.

Will go with the Co for 2nd but secretly hope it will be a Scottish victory, since my Flower of Scotland post was removed from the St Georges Day thread on random

Gonna sound like Alan Hansen now....
As defending champions YBS have the class and the know how how to win the have to play out of your skins and more to beat YBS....
Faireys as British Champions should put on a good show and have the MD to produce something special
Scotish Co - Op have a great MD and sound soloists..great band
Stavanger - great MD and sound band , you must be good to beat Eikanger at the Norwegian Championchips.
Wilebrok - md and band know how to win the contest ( ok it was 1993 ) but they always put up a decent show..
No I dont think any Welsh Band has the quality of sound to win the european at the moment....overblowing and harsh playing aside.
