I have played this as a 16-piece. Are you sure it exists as a 10-piece?

mmmm, you got me thinking now, I`ve heard 2 recordings of it, pretty sure they were 10 piece.
I`ll have to do some digging

I'm pretty sure you're spot on. I've played it 3 or 4 times as a 16-piece (which was only available to hire through the Concord/Maecenas hire department) as this was the way Crees did the original for the enlarged Philip Jones group. It's also the way the LSO Brass play/record it. Never seen it for 10-piece

Pretty sure the arrangement is for the same instrumentation as Elgar Howarth's arrangement of Pictures at an Exhibition. Therefore, 6 trumpets, 4 horns, 3 trombones, 1 euphonium, 2 tubas and as much percussion as there is space for!

Definately 16 piece arrangement. Great fun to play. Especially the higher trumpet parts!:p

16 piece - only available for hire at extortionate rate.
    Purchase - no chance
Borrow - you'll be lucky (if anyone does have a set of this, it is probably illegally copied)
