John Myatt lists this sop. at just under £1600 (new) for this instrument.

Sterling Sop. sold for £155.00, .... looks like a b.a.r.g.a.i.n. for winner!

There was another thread with a link to eBay on tMP a week or so ago regarding Pocket Trumpets. Someone here purchased one and said it was fantastic... it was £80 if I remember correctly.

I might grab one for that price...

... there seems to be a revival of pocket and echo cornet/trumpets on sale at the moment. Was it a Stagg that was going for £80? Jupiter manufacture them as well but at a much greater price. Some of the older models on sale seem a good deal for their ornamental value alone! Cannot comment about the Indian imports at all!

... interesting to see that the instrument was sold from Germany! My links do not show the bell-side of the cornet, so difficult to to tell if they are one and the same. :-?

(as far as I am aware, the instruments such as Bently and Stagg are made in China.... and according to friends, are much better quality than their price would allow us to believe.)

I forgot to mention about the King mouthpieces ... the inner sizes equate to the Bach ranges and the rim/build is similar but much superior to the Wick ranges. Manufactured by Conn, they normally only get supplied with King instruments and not sold independently, therefore rare to see in UK. They are comfortable to play and have full range capabilities with little fatigue. Sound is rich and very brass band friendly. Handy comparison chart for trom. players at this link:- http://www.ibowtie.com/mpccharts.html

... a closer look at another on eBay here:- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16216&item=3758472950&rd=1

    all brass:- http://search.ebay.com/King-mouthpiece_Brass_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQfromZR10QQcatrefZC6QQsacategoryZ16212Q26catrefQ3DC6QQsotrZ2QQsosortpropertyZ2Q26sosortorderQ3D2QQcoactionZcompareQQcopagenumZ1QQcoentrypageZsearch

... you can normally get the King range fairly cheap, but remember that import duty and V.A.T. may apply after buying on eBay. Express air delivery for mouthpieces usually costs $10 for approx. 3-day delivery. Check with seller for this option.

I'm not trying to get all trom./euph. players chasing after this M/P on sale on eBay, since transparent ones can be bought using the Kelly range to do the same job, BUT ... it's a nice reminder of the truly experimental days of embouchure analysis and remedial action.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3759404277&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT sold for £16.29

The mouthpiece was designed to be used in conjunction with Donald S. Reinhardt's Pivot System which is an approach to teaching and practising brass instruments that is designed to be modifiable and fit each individual player.

A great link to this (at the time) contraversal approach can be found at the link below:-
