Having watched City of Bristol over the last few years, don't be surprised to see them in the prizes in the 1st section. Also keep an eye out for Sandhurst silver in the 3rd section.

    1st Old Silkstone
    2nd Lympstone
    3rd Darley Dale

i'd definetely put Hatfield Coalpower in the running for section 2. I'm helping them out on top Euph and things are going exremely smoothly in rehearsals, and the band manages to produce a very clean and warm sound... although i'm not too sure about Mr O' Connor's window cleaner impressions!

Quite a few ex-Sun Life players in the ranks so I understand.

    hmm, hard one this...

so far I can only come up with winners...
    1st section: Zone One Brass
    2nd section: Lympstone
    3rd section: St Dennis
    4th section: Lockwood

It'll probably be a close contest all round... I'm glad I'm not an adjudicator for this contest...
Best of luck to all taking part... have a good one!

I would definately put Hoover Band up there in the 3rd section.
They're a good band with an excellent conductor in Chris Wormald.

Not a prediction as such as I don't know the bands going well enough. However, I do rate these bands.....

Section 1. Kibworth. Have been good and consistent for a loong time.
Section 2. Shirley. Hate to admit it, but they came 1st at the Area and (I think) it was 2nd at last years 2nd Section National Finals.
Section 4. Pheonix Brass. If they have put the work in I think they will show a class different to the usual 4th section band.

Just a few thoughts... not that I have many to spare!

I'm noticing nobodies putting us Scottish bands in the top 3.

Are we that bad? or, is it just that you don't know anything about us?

    1) Bon-Accord Silver Band
    2) The Rest!!

I see a few people have tipped Horden to win the 1st section, they should do ok as they have quite a few good players in the band, Andy Holmes on top cornet and Richie Wallace on top euph, but i don't know if they will win (i hope so though). North East bands never seem to do anything at the nationals, especially in the 2nd and 1st sections

Don't underestimate Newmilns and Galston to take one of the prizes in the second section as they are playing really well just now.

I'd definitely put money on Knottingley in the 1st Section and Stanley Newmarket in the 3rd.
