Dronfield Band is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary year. The original Dronfield Temperance Brass Band was wound up in the late 1940s but in 1970 the deputy headmaster of Henry Fanshawe School, Ian Cottier, placed an article in the parish magazine about "banding" and in response, a Mrs. Higginbottom, widow of the last conductor of the defunct Temperance Band donated £2 towards the reformation of the band. The new Dronfield Band was formed and performed its first engagement on Remembrance Sunday 1970

Various events are taking place over the next 12 months and we will be holding a celebration Dinner Dance at The Sheffield Park Hotel on Saturday 2nd July 2011. The event will be open to current members, past members, MDs and friends of the band.

We would also like to collate any photographs, memories and newspaper articles that past members and MD’s may have.

If you have any items we could display could you contact Malcolm Milner by email to malcmilner@btopenworld.com.
