Imagine the scenario...you have five world class soloists and you could pick two pieces for each of them to put on your dream recording, what would they be? One light/slow melody and one more developed solo (concerto etc)

    Soprano cornet

    Bb cornet

    Tenor horn

Would really appreciate your help with one TMPers!

  2. I may as well start then:
Soprano - Rhapsody for Soprano Cornet by Eaves and Memory
Bb Cornet - Virtuosity and Share My Yoke
Horn - Capriccio Brillante and An Untold Story (dunno how they came to mind!) :)
    Euphonium - Bravura and Benedictus
Trombone - Freaks (if you havent heard it then you've missed a treat!) and couldnt think of a slow piece itself but really like the movement Elaine from the testpiece Tintagel which is really nice

well for starters, my dream recording would include a flugel, baritone and bass as well, so they probably couldn't play 2 each anymore!

    That said;
sop: Bilitis, Queen of the Nights Aria
cornet: The Bells of Peover, Prelude & Capriccio
flugel: Beneath the Willows, Children of Sanchez
horn: A Time for Peace, Masquerade (if Mr S could be persuaded to write band parts...) or Piper of Dundee
    baritone: Rutland Water, Red Flame
    euph: Aubade, Varied Mood
    trom: Londonderry Air, Blue John
bass: Lento from Sparke's concerto, Largo al Factotum

and then I'd probably go for a full set and include Bass trom and Bbb bass too.... and what about percussion?!

    Mmmmm, difficult....

Soprano cornet: Cappricio (think that's what it's called), Flowerdale from Hymn of the Highlands or Nativity from Dove Descending.

Bb cornet: Carnival of Venus (Allen Vitzzuti), You Raise Me Up, or My Love is like a Red Red Rose

Flugel: Share My Yoke, Ave Maria (Cacchini), Dimitri.

Tenor horn: Capriccio Brillante or Finale from Mozart Horn Concerto, A Time for Peace,

Euphonium: Rule Brittania (Hartmann), Nessun Dorma or Be My Love.

Trombone: Blue Bells of Scotland, Londonderry Air (Geldard)

My euphonium choices would have to be benidictus and elfried!

    Not sure about other instruments!
