DLI 'Brass in the Park' Contest 2008

    Who's going? Felling will be there, I'm looking forward to it. Do we know who the adjudicator is yet?

    Westoe will be there, defending our title. Got a point to prove after our damp squib at Easingwold!

    Adjudicator is normally only announced on the day

    Further to my earlier post, Westoe have now withdrawn from the DLI.

    Backworth have also withdrawn.

    I have now heard that neither Fishburn or Broughtons will be going. Looks like the draw for section A will be:

    1. Felling
    2. Durham Constabulary
    3. Billingham
    4. Murton

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Not sure how section C/D got on but the results from section A/B are:

    1. Felling - 187pts
    2. Murton - 182pts
    3. Billingham
    4. Durham Constabulary

    Best March: Felling
    Best Soloist: Will Earl - Felling

    1 Ferryhill

    Don't know about the march/solo/section D Prize

    Bass trom from Ferryhill won solos (did very well too, I Wanna Be Like You), Craggy won the march and section D prize.

    I only heard a couple of bands so what did everyone play?

    Best March £20 Craghead Colliery Band
    Best Soloist £20 Ferryhill Band
    Highest placed section D band and winners of the Tom Finkel trophy plus a prize of £50 sponsored by Making Music and the offer of one years free membership to Making Music. Craghead Colliery Band.
    1st place £200 and the Dennis Todd trophy with 176 points to Ferryhill Band
    2nd place £150 Craghead Colliery Band with 174 points
    3rd place £100 Aycliffe and Brancepeth Band with 173 points

    Class A A & B bands
    Best March £20 The Felling Band
    Beast Soloist £20 Felling Band
    Highest placed B section band and the winners of the CISWO Trophy plus a prize of £50 sponsored by Making Music and the offer of one years free membership to Making Music. Murton Colliery Band.
    1st place £200 and the Durham County Council Trophy The Felling Band with 187 points
    2nd place £150 Murton Colliery Band with 182 points
    3rd place £100 Billingham Silver Band
