Derwent Brass has two rare vacancies, one on Bass Trombone and a more recent additional Tenor Trombone requirement.

These are the only two vacancies within Derwent Brass who pride themselves on a good standard, maintaining a strong position in the Midlands Championship section, with a regular friendly band that ordinarily only rehearse once a week. Rehearsals take place in the band's dedicated facility at The Strutt's Centre, Belper on a Thursday evening from 20:00-22:00. Other players commute from around Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Burton.

The band is a professional outfit, with an equal importance and balance placed on both concert and contest performances and are always looking to continually improve. Concert performances regularly showcase a variety of repetoire inclusive of big band sets, strong soloists, film music and more recently have included contemporary work from the pen of our contemporary music associate Paul McGhee. Last year the band also hosted workshops for brass performers and composers, and regularly raise considerable sums of money for charity.

Additionally, the band has a popular 10pc ensemble, fulfiled by the members of the full band. Trombone applications are for the position within the full band and whilst participation in the ensemble remains totally optional, is encouraged.
