Tempted to buy a number 1 tenor horn (wick) mouthpiece as I'm interested in the how better the sound and range would be? Current mouthpiece is a 2 which I get on with way better than a 3? Anybody tried one?

Yes, got a 1A about 8 or 9 months ago(from a DW2). It took me a couple of weeks to get to where I wanted to be but I feel its worth it for a bigger sound particularly in the lower register.

I'm relatively new to playing, but just invested in a denis wick heritage 1a (well paid £30 on ebay!) it's quite frankly amazing. My range (which bear in mind wasn't great- I'm still a beginner) has increased dramatically, and I now sound like I'm playing a horn, not farting down a pipe- I was playing with a DW2. I'd recommend giving the heritage a go.

ebay. I'm slightly obsessed. They had two- both brand new used as display and trial ones apparently, arrived in the box looking totally untouched, no marks or anything (did get a good wash like) ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270941790793?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D270941790793%26_rdc%3D1 ) I do spend a lot of time on ebay though. Last night I dreamt I bought a sov round stamp for £192, listed as a tuba. Sadly it was a dream! (though if anyone has one they'd like to sell me for that price...)

Great buy that, I'm inspired now to spend more time on eBay as it obviously pays off! Your after a sov r'stamp too then!! :) I think I will prefer the bigger bore of the size 1... 1a is a thicker rim??? Not sure what difference that makes.

I have no idea either, or what diff it makes.. all I can say is it was cheap. Hands of ebay... I saw it first! (to be fair I only have £250 unless I can get my Cello sold... so not much chance for me, unless God drops one in my lap)

The Alliance range is worth looking at for horn.
