The Canadian Brass website has announced that Fred Mills, a founding member of 'The Brass' died yesterday.

Fred lofted the piccolo trumpet into an indispensable role in the brass quintet in conjunction with his trumpet playing colleague Ronald Romm.
He brought a new level of quality to brass quintet repertoire through his arrangements, many of which are now considered standards.

An absolute icon and a terrific, unassuming guy too.

    RIP.
