Now that everyone has had a chance to see Casino Royale, what do people think of Daniel Craig as James Bond 007. Personally, I think he brings back the dark, sinister nature of Bond only seen thus far in Timothy Daltons portrayle as the super-agent. Definatley a hit for me. Opinions please...
I think he was good and still had the charm and humour but not to a super-cheese level like Moore (and sometimes Connery). I did miss a few of the James Bondisms...shaken not stirred, bond...james bond...but I assume that's because it was more of a prequel?
I thought he was a poor choice for Bond, and then I saw the film! I think he is likely to make the role his own. I liked the more realistic fight damage etc. too. Get's a thumbs up from me.
You missed the best line of the film? When asked if he wanted his martini shaken or stirred, he said "do I look like I give a damn" and he did the bond line right at the end when he shot that dude through the knee. As for hit or miss, deffo hit. The wife loves him, his picture graces my laptop as the wallpaper. Apparently he has really nice eyes and rugged features. Not so sure my self but he made a cracking bond.
I agree with your wife - Daniel Criag is definitely a rugged hottie...the best type! I'm not sure that I'd ever seen a whole bond all the way through before, but most certainly enjoyed this one!
Think it's an excellent film and Daniel Craig makes an excellent Bond. All the different Bond actors have brought something different to the role. Although I thought Pierce Brosnan was very good, the last one he did though I thought was totally OTT. He would beat up 8 evil henchman then just casually straighten his tie afterwards. The new one feels alot more realistic and Daniel Craig actually looks like he has been in a scrap! I think it benefits from not having the gadgets, moneypenny/q, constant quips. Hope this is the start of Bond movies going back to being a bit more gritty and human. Thumbs up from me
Sorry when all the other Bonds were distinctly Dark Haired how can you suddenly have a blonde/ginger Bond... Although perhaps a change in my career is on the horizon My Name is Ginger....GingerMaestro...license to play a tune
Although all the James Bond's have done a good job and they were all fantastic films, i think Sean Connery is the best because he was the first one.
Up to now Sean Connery has been THE Bond for me....but...Daniel Craig has certainly filled his shoes (and trunks!)
I thought Daniel Craig did a fantastic job as Bond. I thought was brilliant in other films such as Munich and Layer Cake and hes arguably the one of the finest actors around. I will admit i was slightly cynical about him being given the role but i have been proved wrong. I aslo agree with what Bass Man said about the similarities between Craig and Dalton, who up until now was my favourite bond.
Hmmmm...... let's take a few minutes to think about that one.... er YES Apart from the obvious good points  he does fill the role brilliantly. A double 0 needs to be a bit of an action man in my opinion & Mr Craig is perfect. Can't wait for the next film. Oh, loved the free running sequence at the start.
I thought he was fantastic as bond, and the film is the best Bond film for decades. Apart for those 20 minutes in the mountains where it turned all romantic and Daniel Craig proved he doesn't do romantic. That part was terrible - rest of the film: fandabbydozy!
well I went to see this with my fella a couple of weeks ago, despite thinking that Daniel Craig was a rubbish choice ... BUT it was brilliant! really enjoyed it so hit hit hit from me!
Looks pretty unanimous so far! I haven't seen the film yet. I don't like going to see films where the star and I bear such an uncanny resemblance....
