PLEASE GO TO THE END OF THIS THREAD TO SEE OUR MOST RECENT VACANCIES

Our old school brass band reformed a year ago after a 30 year break to play at the 90th birthday party of our music teacher, Ron Eccles. We had such a good time that we decided to continue playing together under the baton of our old teacher. Sadly, he has decided that it's all a bit too much for him now at 91 years old, so we are currently conductorless.

The band members have a broad range of abilities - some haven't played since leaving school, others continued to play regularly with 2nd, 1st and championship section bands. We rehearse every other Sunday afternoon and do about half a dozen public engagements a year. We've no intention of contesting or increasing our rehearsal commitments.

We are looking for a musical director to lead our fortnightly rehearsals and to conduct at concerts. I suspect the position would suit someone local who wants to keep their hand in, but is unable to commit to the more demanding schedule of a contesting band. The position would be unpaid, but enjoyable :)

We could also do with another bass player (Bb or Eb), a bass trombone and a percussionist if anyone is interested.

Please send me a PM or give me a ring on 07887932874.

    Thanks

    Phil Driscoll

What about a chance for a new conductor to start to learn his/her game . . .

    Where abouts are rehearsals?

We'd be delighted to have a new conductor use us as a training opportunity. Rehearsals are at St Theresa's Parish Hall on Station Road in Crossgates and run from 2pm to 4pm every other Sunday (though next Sunday, 19th April, we are doing a short concert at the same venue).

    Cheers

Corpus Christi Band, Leeds: Players required - most sections

We are currently looking to recruit players in most sections of our band. We have a surfeit of tenor horns, but all other sections are currently light in numbers.

The band is based in East Leeds and reformed a couple of years ago and members have a broad range of abilities. Some hadn't played since leaving school 30 years ago, others continued to play regularly with 2nd, 1st and championship
section bands. We rehearse every other Sunday afternoon and do about half a dozen public engagements a year. We've no intention of contesting or increasing our rehearsal commitments.

The band is very friendly and may be especially interesting to anyone who has had to let their playing fall by the wayside due to other commitments.

A Musical Director is required for Corpus Christi band in Leeds. The band is a friendly non-contesting band which rehearses once per fortnight. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone new to conducting to dip their toes in the water (especially in view of the fact that we have no funding and are unable to pay a retainer). Our
concert programme is fairly light - typically half a dozen jobs over the summer months and a few at Christmas.

The band members have a broad range of abilities - some hadn't played for 30 years until the band reformed three years ago, while about half the band have current or recent experience in championship, first and second section bands.

Hi, do you require any other players, other than the Conductor?.

We are happy to welcome any players who want to come along for a blow - the band is short of bass players and percussion, but we could find a chair for someone in any section :)

    Repiano and Bb bass vacancy

Corpus Christi band in Leeds have a vacancy for Repiano cornet and Bb bass.

The band is a friendly non-contesting band which rehearses once per fortnight and has a very enjoyable concert programme ahead over the summer months.

There is a broad mix of playing ability within the band, but overall we are at decent 2nd section standard.

Please send me a private message if you are interested, or email phil@corpusband.org.uk

    Thanks

    Repiano and Kit drum vacancy

Corpus Christi band in Leeds have a vacancy for Repiano cornet and Kit drummer.

The band is a friendly non-contesting band which rehearses once per fortnight and has a very enjoyable concert programme.

There is a broad mix of playing ability within the band, with about half the players at 1st section standard or better, and it is especially suited to players looking for a decent band but who are unable to commit to the heavier rehearsal schedule of most bands.

Since we are not a contesting band, there are no rules for the number of players, so whatever you play you are welcome to come and join us at our rehearsals at the Newman Centre, Station Road LS15 7JY at 2pm every other Sunday. Rehearsal dates are on the calendar on our website at www.corpusband.org.uk.

Please send me a private message if you are interested, or email phil@corpusband.org.uk

    Thanks
