Cornet Solos (grade 3/4) with band

Discussion in 'The Rehearsal Room' started by Flyingscot1974, May 19, 2015.

  1. Hi all,

I am looking to feature one of our younger cornet players who has recently had a good result at a solo contest. Can you suggest a cornet solo for grade 3 or 4 level which can be accompanied by a full band?

    Thanks

    What's the students range like?

Some slow melodies stay in fairly comfy range
'Share my Yoke' is a gift that keeps giving... Its not too long (especially if you skip repeat), only goes up to top G so it's playable relatively early in ones development and yet it's a beautiful enough melody that its still enjoyable as a better player.

Ave Maria by Caccini arranged by Sandy Smith....for me, one of the best arrangements ever of a classic piece, and lovely to play. Goes up to a top A, but I think achievable.

  7. I have to agree, one of the most beautiful melodies, however maybe a little advanced for this youngster.

  8. This looks brilliant Andy. I'll take you up on the offer!

Nice looking piece that Andrew. Listened to the MP3 and enjoyed. Have sent a link to my MD whom I think would appreciate it.
