  1. It is with great delight that Dalkeith and Monktonhall Colliery Brass Band congratulate Mr Bill Baillie on attaining an MBE for services to Brass Banding in Her Majesty's Birthday Honours List today.

Bill was a stalwart of the Dalkeith and Monktonhall Band for 57 years, and for many of them played as Principal Euphonium.

He has been an inspirational player, and leader within the band for many years, latterly serving as Vice-President of the band also. He has played with the band for so long, that (I think!) he has played in every section, with the same band! Surely a record!

Bill recently moved band and is now playing with St Ronan's Band - but everyone at Dalkeith and Monktonhall send him their warmest congratulations, and best wishes for this tremendous achievement. Well done Bill (MBE)!
