As reported on 4BarsRest, David Chaulk's 'Mahurutanga' will be premiered in concert by the Auckland Philharmonia, featuring Principal Trombonist, Douglas Cross.

    Congratulations, David :tup

Are there plans to publish the work? How about a brass band version?

Thanks. The work (in it's entire trombone concerto form) will eventually be available through SOUNZ (The Centre for NZ Music). I thought about a transcription for band, wind ensemble, etc. but it's difficult to get brass or wind instruments to hold tied semi-breves (whole notes) for 30 or 40 seconds at a time. It's fair to say that my orchestral writing is a wee bit more minimalist than my band writing used to be.
