Following on from Dave Payne's thread about conductors singing, I'm sure there will be many (myself very much included!) who dance during rehearsals! I am terrible for this, as I find myself lost in the music. One of the worst pieces for me I have found to be Kalinka- just can't help myself!

Please tell me other people suffer from this terrible affliction??

    Not as a condcutor, no.

But I waltzed with my Tuba in Bass in the Ballroom...

Not perhaps dancing as such, but I remember the 'Open when Masquerade was first used in 1993 with one conductor - I think it was Frans Violet with CWS Glasgow - jumping energetically up and down and backwards and forwards in the triplets in the run up to the ending.

Apparently, though I've never noticed this myself, I wiggle my hips a lot in jazz/danceband style music.

If I tried to do this consiously I'd fall over

I have been known to subconsciously 'direct' with bits of my personage other than my arms. Whether it could be called 'dancing' is another matter....
