Wakefield Orchestral Wind have an exciting opportunity available - we are looking for a talented and experienced conductor to help the band develop and grow musically.

It is desirable that the applicant has an understanding of woodwind and ensemble/band repertoire, while the ability to produce arrangements suited to the group is a distinct advantage.

The band currently enjoys playing a mixture of music, from film scores to more traditional wind pieces and we are happy to try anything new and challenging. The right conductor will be keen to work with the band to select repertoire and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. We are a friendly group of players who respond well to enjoyable and productive rehearsals.

If you think you 'hit the right notes' please contact us to discuss the vacancy.

Wakefield Orchestral Wind would like to wish our departed conductor, Garry Hallas, all the best for the future. Garry is taking up a fantastic conducting opportunity elsewhere and he goes with our good wishes and praise. We thoroughly enjoyed being under his guidance and know that his new band will certainly benefit from working with him.

Garry commented "I have enjoyed working with you all, the musicianship and dedication shown by everyone is fantastic. I would like to wish you all, the very best for your music making in the future."

Good luck Garry, you will be missed by all at WOW!

As a result the band are looking for a new conductor. The closing date for applications is 7th March.
