hHaving heard some of our top bands in concerts we seem to be reluctant to play music which has been composed for bands. Too many arrangments. There are many fine pieces for bands why do we neglect them the concerts are becoming too predictable . Be proud of our music the average concert attender needs to know what we have on offer.

    - I have to agree with you but then it depends on the target audience ... whether it is going to be mostly banders, mainly general public or mixed. Why? An audience full of banders would expect some original works, and probably a showcase such as a test-piece and would stomach that quite easily. The general public, on the other hand, might not be so receptive ... so shorter works (even single movements from tests) would be more appropriate to break them in!
