CONCERT IN AID OF MARTLETS HOSPICE IN HOVE featuring Brighton & Hove City Brass Hangleton Band Members of the Brighton Festival Chorus On Saturday 15th September Brighton & Hove City Brass will be joining forces with Hangleton Brass Band and members of the Brighton Festival Chorus to present a concert in aid of the Martlets Hospice in Hove who provided care and support to our horn player, Elizabeth Slaney, who sadly passed away in February after a four month battle with cancer. Elizabeth had ties at both bands with her husband, Charles, playing horn with Brighton and her sister, Christine, playing cornet with Hangleton. She was also a member of the Brighton Festival Chorus, and, in her memory, we are presenting a joint concert to support this very worthy cause. The concert, titled "Musical Dreams and Themes For Autumn", will showcase each group individually and will also include some joint performances. The programme will consist of some of Elizabeth’s favourite music including Slaidburn, Carillon and Cry of the Celts from Brighton, Bohemian Rhapsody, Carrickfergus and New World Fantasy from Hangleton and I Vow to Thee My Country and Rachmaninov’s Ave Maria from the Brighton Festival Choir. The conclusion of the concert will feature all three groups performing The Irish Blessing and the finale from Windows of the World Tickets will be available on the door with adults at £5 and children go free. The concert starts at 7.30pm with doors opening at 6.45pm. Interval refreshments will be available and a raffle will be drawn with all proceeds going to the Martlets.
