    Hi there

Just wondering if anyone has experience of this? I'm sure many people have been involved in commissioning new pieces, and was wondering how bands go about doing this? Also, can anyone answer questions like...

How much did the composer charge? (I have already had a quote, but don't know what the 'going rate' is)

Did the band have any input into what they wanted? E.g. style, length etc.

Did you use an established composer, or a new composer with very few published works?

Who owns the rights to the piece once it is completed? (I'm assuming the composer, but thought i'd ask)

I've already had discussions with someone who is interested in writing something for my band, but i want to make sure i know all the facts and figures before i go to the people with the money!!

    Any input on this appreciated.

    Thanks

    Karl
