We look to have filled the Trombone Position, but are still looking for:

    *Bb Bass Player

    *Percussion

Anyone interested in joining the band on these positions should contact the band, either by PMing or emailing me, or by getting in touch via the band website.

We also welcome any brass players if they are interested in coming and having a play with us.

    Get in touch. :D

Just to confirm that our Trombone posiiton is definitely filled, we have also added another excellent cornet to the ranks.

Would still love to hear from that elusive bass player though! We have just acquired some new tuned percussion instruments too - why not be the player to play them?

Get in touch if interested. Thank you.

It is probably too late for our amazing Bb Bass player to appear before the Areas, but if anyone is looking for a band after the areas, get in touch. :-D

    Just to update the thread.

We are still on look out for a Percussionist and an extra Bb bass player. We have just added two excellent cornet players to our ranks and have an exciting summer season, but not too exciting that it will take up too much of your time!

Any brass players (any instrument) in the West Midlands who are interested in the band are welcome to get in touch with us via our website.

    Thanks for looking.

One of our Eb Bass players, by virtue of living in Wales is finding it increasingly difficult to get to rehearsals - so we would welcome any brass or percussionists...

    But are extra keen for

    *Eb Bass Player
    *Bb Bass Player
    *Percussion

Instruments provided, lots of other instruments available too - if you would like to come and have a blow and see whether we are the band for you - just get in touch! Thank you.

We look to have found an Eb Bass player for after Christmas, but would always welcome another!

We have also welcomed another pair of cornets so have a very healthy number of players, which usually gives us a full band for rehearsals, which is nice. Any other brass players would be made welcome.

    Thank you.

Eb Bass player has fallen through. So we would really like:

    *Eb Bass Player
    *Bb Bass Player
    *Percussion

We have instruments for these players to play - just need the players!

As always, any other brass players are welcome for a blow.

City of Birmingham Brass Band Updated contact details

For vacancies for The City of Birmingham Brass Band, please see the bottom post on this thread, thank you!

We are a young, vibrant and friendly band on its way up! We are currently in the Midlands Region 3rd Section and looking to progress further, although it is not the be all and end all for the band. We are most of all looking for a good year in the concert hall and also on the contest stage and have a strong pool of high quality players to call on.

We rehearse on Monday and Thursday evening from 7.45pm until 10pm at the Winterbourne Botanical Gardens, Birmingham University Edgbaston Campus.

Our band room is part of the "Grace Labs" just off Edgbaston Park Road, B15 2RT (Situated at the bottom of the drive above Building Number G12 in the Green Zone on the PDF map on the Botanical Garden's website). There are five grey buildings down the lane immediately above G12, the four buildings next to each other are green houses, and the building on its own at the end of the lane is the Grace Labs where we rehearse.) If you want to be really precise - it is the driveway with the tall wooden gates on the corner by the bollard, it looks like someone's driveway, go past the house, then as you go past the greenhouses drive down to find a space to park in the car park, and Band rehearse in the building at the very bottom of the drive – if you see someone with an instrument case, just ask them!

We have an outstanding Musical Director, Warren Belshaw, who has really moved the band onwards and upwards since he took over in October 2005. The band has the benefit of some superb leadership from within its membership (Auntie Barbara for those who know her...!) and is a registered charity. We have a host of regular high profile concerts planned and are fortunate to get a number of gigs from the City of Birmingham itself, our primary sponsor. We had a very successful recording in the summer of 2006 - a superb CD "All Brass" was produced and released amid much fanfare (Boom boom!) just in time for Christmas! Plans are already in the offing for our next recording!

We have a varied and challenging repertoire of music, which manages to feature the many different soloists from around the band. Our MD manages to keep us enthused and move the band on musically with ambitious and exciting programme choices - a recent personal musical highlight was the preparation and performance for an own choice Contest and Christmas Concert of Eric Ball's "Journey into Freedom" - fantastic!

Though we are particularly looking for the positions below, we always welcome any enquiries from players of other instruments - we have a few extra players from the standard contest numbers and almost always have a packed band room of friendly faces. Why not get in touch below and arrange to come along, or just pay us a visit - what ever instrument you play. You can also check out our website, which has many of the concert dates that have been confirmed on it, our Facebook page or just come and see us instead!

Please PM or email me for further details and information, I will be happy to help!

Many thanks for looking, Oli Wilson. :tup

Due to a couple of players leaving us recently we currently have the following new vacancies:

A Cornet player to complete our front row
    Baritone Horn

We're also still looking for that Bass player, and a third precussionist would be nice!

As always we welcome enquires from players interested in joining us on any instrument. The band is based in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, next to the University of Birmingham's main campus.
Send us an email us at birminghambrass@yahoo.co.uk if interested.

Well I didn't expect to be updating this so soon but having welcomed back our baritone section along with two new cornet players this week I felt I had to!

Whilst (as always) we welcome enquires from players wanting to join us on any instrument we currently have vacancies on both Eb and Bb Bass.

I also forgot to mention last night that we will very soon require a front row cornet as one of ours is due to leave after graduating this summer.

    Exciting News!

We've now moved home! Anyone who has played with us in the last couple of years will know our rehearsal space was on the small side and didn't provide the greatest acoustic. The band feel very lucky to have addressed this issue by moving to Joseph Chamberlain College. Due to the move we now rehearse on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

We're still looking to recruit a 2nd Euphonium and a Percussionist (or a section of them!)

As always you can contact us at birminghambrass@yahoo.co.uk

The band is now based at Joseph Chamberlain College near the centre of Birmingham. We currently need 2nd Euphonium and Persussion, although we're always keen to welcome new people!

We've found a second Euphonium and are now just look for percussionists to complete the band. Whether you want to come and join a full band twice a week or just come now and again and get involved with some of our bigger projects then we'd love to hear from you.

As always we will still be happy to hear from brass players on any instrument.

We've got three great Christmas concerts lined up as well as the areas in March to look forward to.
