    It may be to do with the fact that "Chavs" have been reffered to as "Charvas" in the North for many years. I don't see why everyone suddenly jumped on the "Chav" bandwagon to be honest. We've been using an almost identical word for years......

    'cos they're really cool...

    My bro and his friend call them skags... they were delighted on the way back froma band job last weekend when they saw one "in its natural envirnoment", 16yo outside a corner shop, can of cider in hand, trakkie bottoms tucked into fetching white socks... they couldn't believe their luck... Bro doesn't get out much bless, they're not hard to find!
