Does anyone happen to know how many trumpets are in Charpentier's Te Deum and what kind of trumpet I might need? Trumpet in D?

You may find it depends on whose edition they are using.

A google search reveals that the Eulenberg score of the Jean-Paul Montagnier edition uses two trumpets in C.

I've played it as a solo and it came with two parts- C and Bb.

I have used the trumpet in D edition. However, it's better to use a piccolo trumpet tuned in A.

I played the Te Deum at a wedding a couple of weeks ago and used a D trumpet, and it's a solo, don't even think i've heard it as a duet.

I've played it on Bb Fanfare trumpet although that may not have been the original key.
