On Thursday 28th May 2009 one of the leading & most entertaining Brass Bands in East Anglia will be performing a Charity Concert at Sheringham Little Theatre.

The Cawston Band, fresh from their 5-trophy haul at the 2009 East Anglian Brass Band Association Championships, will be performing the concert, starting at 7:30pm, which is being staged to raise funds for Sheringham Woodfields School.

Sheringham Woodfields is a Community Complex Needs School, based in Sheringham on the North Norfolk coast. All of the pupils have a complex learning difficulty and the school has the provision for all ages from two to nineteen. The funds raised will be used to help the school continue with its work to enrich the lives and education of the pupils in its care.

The band have come to hear about the school as Band Chairman, Steve Clarke, who recently won 2 awards at the East Anglian contest for his playing, is a teacher at Woodfields.

As a band Cawston are themselves a registered charity but are committed to assisting other charities. Woodfields School are the latest beneficiaries of this commitment and the band is delighted to be helping the school.

Other charities the band are helping this year include Leonard Cheshire Homes and East Anglia Children’s Hospice.

The concert programme will include a broad range of music under the bands Musical Director Leigh Sharpe. Leigh will be well known to many Norfolk concertgoers as the former Director of Music of the Dragoon Guards Band.

Tickets are priced at £ 7.50 (Under 25’s £ 7) and are available direct from Sheringham Little Theatre box office on 01263 822347
