Cawston Band is delighted to announce details of their joint concert with current Australian Champions Brisbane Excelsior.

On May 26th The Assembly Rooms, Norwich will be the venue for a concert featuring Brisbane Excelsior from Australia. The Australian Band is making Norwich their first port of call in the UK prior to competing in the Masters Competition at Cambridge on Sunday May 28th.

For their stay in Norwich The Cawston Band who will join them for the concert at the Assembly Rooms will host them. Also whilst in Norwich the top band from Australia will complete their preparations for the Cambridge contest at Cawstons’ rehearsal room.

Brisbane Excelsior retained their National title at Easter by a margin of 5 points from their nearest rival. Their performance was described by on line brass band magazine as follows: ‘without detracting from the undeniable talent of individual players, this band was simply a class team. There were no weak links and Howard Taylor was a captivating and inspiring director.’

This will not be the first time Cawston have performed with overseas National Champions as in 2000 Cawston were the host when then North American Champions Illinois Brass visited the UK.

Chairman of Cawston Band, Ian Clarke says the whole band is looking forward to this event made even more special by the fact that Brisbane successfully retained their title as Australian Brass Band Champions and we cannot wait to welcome this fine band to the fine city of Norwich.

Tickets for the concert which starts at 7:30pm are priced at £8 and £6 for concessions and are available from Prelude Records, St Giles Street, Norwich telephone number 01603 628319 or email
