  1. Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band are pleased to announce a number of key signings all bringing with them a wealth of championship experience and all strengthing the band in the time for the Area. Firstly, we welcome Richard Windle on 2nd Trombone, previously of Grimethorpe Colliery. Richard has been with us a number of weeks and has already made an impact on the trombone section. We also welcome Janet Lewis on flugel horn. Janet has much experience having played principal cornet for British Aerospace and led Glossop Old in the 2001 British Open. On flugel she has played for Dobcross, Besses and since 2004, The Leyland Band.

We have also filled the repiano cornet and 2nd cornet positions with Dave Jones and Martin Swan from Thoresby. Both Dave and Martin again bring so much experience to the back row with both of them having played principal cornet at championship level.

Finally we welcome David Belshaw on Principal Euphonium. David replaces Ciaran Young who has very decently moved onto second Euphonium. The Band would like to place on record our sincerest thanks to Ciaran for his sterling playing as Principal Euphonium over the last three years - it has been greatly appreciated!

With these great signings now in place we are looking forward to working towards the Area contest under our resident Dennis Hadfield and professional conductor, Russell Gray.
