Cardiff New Brass Festival

  1. Cardiff New Brass Festival has announced that its 2011 event, which takes place from the 10th - 12th June, will be set at one of the city’s iconic venues, Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral, with an additional fringe concert on the Glanfa Stage of the Wales Millennium Centre.

    This years artists include

    • David Thornton (International Euphonium Soloist)
    • Dean Wright (Principal Trumpet Welsh National Opera)
    • Simon Dobson and the Oslofjord Band (Norway)
    • BTM Band (Wales)
    • Symphonic Brass of the Royal Air Force (England)
    • Wormshead Brass Ensemble (Wales)
    We really have pushed the boat out this year, with some wonderful artists, great music and an innovative approach to make it a much more inclusive, proactive event.

    We are aiming to bring a real vibrant feel to the whole weekend, and we will be releasing further exciting news in the near future.

    Alongside a showcase for young performers and composers there will also be a host of new music, including 4 world premiere's from:

  2. Interactive Exhibitors to Display at Festival

    Three of the Cardiff New Brass Festival sponsors will be coming along to both concerts at the Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral.

    Main sponsor Mr Tuba will be there with his outstanding range of instruments, CD's, products and of couce anecdotes!!

    There will also be an appearance from Glyn Williams Musical Instruments, who sponsor the appearance of International Euphonium Soloist David Thornton. Glyn will be presenting the fantastic Sterling Euphoniums and invites all players out there to come along for a free road test at the event.

    There will also be a recruitment stand form the Royal Air Force Music Services. The Symphonic Brass of the RAF join the festival fresh from a month in Cyprus, a performance at the Classical Britt Awards and, of course, the Royal Wedding. Come along and get a taste of what musical life in the RAF is like.
