My band are looking to buy some new perc gear (concert bass drum and possibly a Xylophone with some other bits and bobs).

Not being a shedbuilder, am not too sure where to look. Have had a look at Normans and Band Supplies plus Jam percussion, Ev-Eventz and Drumwright.

Can anyone recommend a Perc specialist or if there are any websites.

  2. We usually get our stuff from Normans I think and I've bought a few things from JAM who are really good.

Depending on how long you want to wait for stuff there is Premier but, I think they make everything to order so be prepared to wait!

Newcastle Drum Centre is also worth a look.

    Good morro'!

Like you, I am not totally 'au fait' with all that is in the perc section so, when the youth band I was conducting needed new eqpt, I phoned Ian at DrumWright. He walked me through all the options, taking into account our financial situation, what we wanted the eqpt for, standard of the players, etc and put us under no pressure to buy. He also helped me by signposting to other services, which was beyond the call of duty! Great service this and I wouldn't hesitate to use call him for advice again.

Hope you find what you're looking for. :D

I would give Jam Percussion a call 0151 494 1492, I have phoned them before and purchased percussion items from them. They were very honest and helpfull.

I personally recommend Jam Percussion, they have a wide variety of percussion from all the top manufactorers (Adams, Majestic, Yamaha, Premier etc.) If you phone them they'll give you the low down as to what is best for you, and sometimes might get some money off if you have a large or expensive order. Other options are Bell percussion, although i've had problems with delays for postage.

Band Supplies and Normans or OK and also are sometimes cheeper but not a lot of variety and they have to order everything in, and they are not specialists, they're brass and woodwind specialists!

So for me JAM Percussion is your best bet!
