Well done to all bands who took part today, and especially to those who were in the prizes!

I had a great day at Skegness (even if my band didn't win!) and heard some fab music. What a fantastic contest this is turning into.......

Oh OK - I hadn't realised that the two days contests went towards the overall result. I guess that's why they didn't announce the champ section results yesterday

Big well done to Melvin and Redbridge.

But what on earth happened in the test piece - 187 points! :-?:-? but winning the Sunday Entertainments!!!! Curious but a fantastic result.

    And the best soloist. Waahay.

Hmmm. Spoke to one of their percussionists last weekend and he said it was going great. What happened then?!?

I heard them play. Their performance was the first time I had ever heard the piece so it could have been peppered with wrong notes for all I know. Sounded pretty good to me though.

my dad listened to them because he knows melvin and he was saying there was a prob with the timps so there was a 15 minute delay so by the time it got to them playing they were all cold:dunno

    Redbridge played:

    Black Bottom(ed) Stomp
The Humming Choruse from Madam Butterfly
    Brasilia (trombone solo)
and a Tourdeforce to band, by Kenneth Downie.. but I can't remember it! - Was premiered by the ISB last year apparently!

indian day break from phil's beyond the tamar
    The incredibles
Sign of the swinging cymbal (encore)

Not exactly sure that would have accounted for such a low mark though. Must have unsettled them - although Melvin is quite unflappable.

Still - curious but a great result for them.

    well done Kippax!
nice to see the band back in the prizes - I bet my old mate from the Rothwell days, Nigel Darbyshire led the line well (and shoved in the cadenza!)
