It has been a very busy few weeks for Gavin Pritchard, both from a playing and a business point of view. On Saturday 2nd July he undertook a solo concert as guest soloist with the Maidstone Wind Symphony where he performed the world Premier of Andrew Baker’s ‘Kopanitsa for Percussion and Concert Band’ as well as Alfred Reed’s ‘Concertino for Marimba’ and a couple of pieces by composers Guy Gautheraux and Nebojsa Zivkovic. Only 7 days later Gavin was up in Caernarfon for the Hit the Dock festival where he, Dewi Ellis Jones and Dame Evelyn Glennie all held percussion workshops!

Gavin would also like to take this opportunity to announce that after several very happy and successful years and many memorable concerts, tours and contests, he has decided to leave the Cory Band. He would like to thank Bob and the guys and wishes them all the best for the future.

On top of all of this, Gavin has also set up his own percussion business importing and selling Bergerault, AJAX and Black Swamp Percussion instruments, which he has called GP Percussion. His website can be found at www.gppercussion.co.uk

Gavin is now looking forward to attending the British Open in September as a spectator for the first time ever, and has several solo performances & masterclasses in the pipeline planned for later in the year.
