Purely by chance ;) I happen to be on holiday in Cornwall at the time of the Bugle contest.

As I've never been before (to the Bugle contest or to Cornwall) does anyone have any practical advice eg about parking, food, getting there early, best place to watch from, etc.

The official website doesn't even say what time the contest starts! (I believe it starts at 10 am?)

Bugle everyone parks in a field... If you pay to park in the field then is where the bandstand is that the contest takes place! So if it is raining you can sit in your car and listen! And i think its starting a bit later this year because of low entry! Think its about 11am?

  3. Be sure to visit Rex's fish and Chips... This man is a pure legend when it comes to Quality fish.

...and the Big Shiny Brass trade stand, of course ;)

That's a point though, we'd best find out when it starts!

I think the march down is actually happening at 11:30am this year.
Everyone is of course welcome back to St Austell Band Club, East Hill, St Austell after the contest. Last year it was a great gathering of bandsmen and women representing numerous bands.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely be checking out Rex's Fish & Chips!

I saw this today on the official contest website:

    Adjudicator: Steven Mead
    Deportment Judge: Gareth Roberts MBE

The march to the field commences at 11:30 hrs. passing by Bugle Inn in the centre of the village
The Contest commences at 12:30 hrs in Mollinis Park
The contest concludes at approximately 5:30 hrs with the announcement of the result,
procession back up through the village with the trophies and short concert by the winning
Championship Section band in the square.

Admission charges: Adults £7.00, children £5.00 and parking £3.00
    Just pay on the day!

As in previous years, there is covered seating provided should the weather not be so kind to us, and a covered marquee for refreshments from where you can still hear the bands.

    Sounds good to me! :)

I know this has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but does anyone know todays bugle results. I would have created my own thread but I didn't know how...

mod edit: moved to exisiting thread.
