I found a recording of Britannia Building Society Band/Fodens of a piece called Britannia that I think was composed by Philip Sparke but i'm not sure. Does anybody know which piece i'm going on about and whether its published (although I'm not holding out too much hope, as i'd guess it was a signature tune for Fodens).

I think you'll find it was on a recording called Brass with Class and was composed by Mr. Sparke. Not sure about publication but no doubt someone else will know; maybe even the great man himself!

Thanks for the reply, would be a shame if it wasn't published, it sounds a super concert march...especially with the patriotic bits! :)

It is by Philip Sparke, and I believe it was commissioned by the (then) Britannia Building Society Band, which of course later reverted to its former name of Fodens. It doesn't seem to appear in any catalogues, so I suspect the band chose to retain it for their exclusive use. But Mr S will put me right if I'm wrong, I'm sure.
