The Emley aren't going this year, after ranting last year over the need for some sort of contesting rules I felt it would have been wrong of me to return with the band. I'll still probably pop down play some bass drum and watch some mates.

Yes i remember you were there.

It started shedding it down the moment we started playing and stopped the moment we finished, my cornet was sliding all over the show, it was well hard to play...and we still won! I think every time ive done a march contest and its rained on us we've won, so i am hoping for rain on sunday!! C'Mon Grange Moor!!

Marsden also got best solo cornet and best soloist (euphonium player).
    JMU university got deportment.

Elland youth band won the best youth and best youth soloist.

Had a great day as always and the weather held off for large chunks of it.

Well done to all the bands today and hope its just as good next year.

I've been on it and it says they had to cancel streaming due to BAD weather, understatement of the year me thinks.

Did any bands actually get through the day completely dry?

Yeah, several did. I think Grange Moor bore the brunt of the rain, they got a proper soaking, and a building alarm to contend with too.

I TOLD YOU ALL!!!!! Unbelievable!!! I know the yoof section got a soaking but we were the only band the whole rest of day day to get wet, started when we started playing and finished as soon as we stopped!!!

    I am completely cursed. :(

The one and only time I did the contest it was absolutely boiling hot - I think it was one of the hottest days of the year! Must have been in 2002?
