It is very sad that I report that Brian Harper, the popular and very well liked Trumpet and Cornet player, has been forced to retire from playing due to recent major surgery. Brian, who now lives in Blackpool, informs me, that he is very much on the mend but is gutted having to stop playing.

In a career spanning 35 years, Brian a professional player has assisted several Brass Bands. He occupied the Assistant Principal Cornet seat at Redbridge, Newham and Aveley Bands. He also played cornet with the Famous Brighouse and Rastrick Band.
Whilst in the North West area he played with the Longridge Band and on several occasions assisted the BMP Europe Goodshaw Band whilst under the Direction of Dave Ashworth.

As a trumpet player he worked with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and has appeared in all the major Concert Halls in London. He has played on numerous recordings and made several live broadcasts on the radio.
Until recently, he was a regular commuter to Bulgaria, where he was playing with two Major orchestras.

Brian has also spent the past 15 years, very successfully conducting Brass Bands in the North West, both in contest and concert environments. He also has an excellent reputation as a Brass teacher and Contest Adjudicator.
He now wishes to broaden out into serious Brass Band Conducting. Using his experience as a Professional musician, he hopes to lead bands in new directions. He has therefore decided that since he is no longer playing, he will now give the full commitment required and is willing to make himself available to conduct anywhere in the UK and abroad.

All his friends and past colleagues wish Brian all the best for the future.
