Dawsons Berkshire Youth Brass Band presents BrassFest 2009 On Sunday 15 March 2009, Dawsons Berkshire Youth Brass Band will be teaming up with junior bands from Berkshire Maestros' four area music centres (Newbury, Reading, Bracknell and Windsor) and taking to the stage at the Reading Concert Hall for BrassFest 2009. BrassFest celebrates the best traditions of brass music and this year will see around 150 young people taking part. These immenseley talented young brass musicians from all over Berkshire will be performing an eclectic mix of of traditional marches, hymn tunes, brass band classics and arrangements of popular music. Dawsons Berkshire Youth Brass Band, Berkshire Maestros' premier youth brass band will host the concert, playing music by Wagner, Janacek, Paul Lovatt-Cooper and Queen along with other brass band works. Dawsons BYBB conductor John Watts said 'We are excited about bringing together the roots of children's brass band learning with the top youth brass band in the county. The concert will feature high quality music from the County band including some pieces for the forthcoming National Youth Brass Band Championships.' Groups from each of the area music centres will also be adding their own short contributions before a final massed band performance arranged especially for BrassFest by Hannah Evans (Dawsons BYBB co-director).
