A groundbreaking new concert in aid of the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity, showcasing some of the finest young brass musicians in the country, is to be held at the RNCM in October this year.

‘Brass for Heroes’ takes place in the main concert hall at the Royal Northern College of Music on Sunday 7th October, at 6:30pm. The ever charismatic Richard Evans will lead the band through an up-to-date programme with original compositions from the pens of Paul Lovatt Cooper, Tom Davoren and Jonathan Bates, and arrangements from the likes of Sandy Smith, Philip Littlemore and Philip Harper. Globally renowned Tuba virtuoso Les Neish will feature as the guest soloist for the evening, performing a selection of entertaining pieces from his expansive repertoire.

Many of the most prestigious youth music ensembles have representatives within the band, featuring members from the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, the 2012 European Youth Brass Band, The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain. Likewise, the band also showcases members from prestigiousbands such as Black Dyke, Fodens, Fairey’s, Leyland, Rothwell and many more.

Speaking about the event, concert organisers Luke Dempsey and Josh Cirtina, both 17 years of age added:

Brass for Heroes will showcase the new generation of brass instrumentalists from across the country in aid of a charity held close to many of the player's hearts. Our main goal is to provide Help for Heroes with as much money as possible.

Tickets can be purchased direct from the RNCM box office on: 0161 907 5555 or online via:www.rncm.ac.uk in the ‘What’s on’ section. All proceeds from the event will go to the ‘Help for Heroes’ Charity, supporting the victims of war and their families.

Luke added 'We have everything we need to make this concert a huge success, the final piece in the jigsaw is an audience, and so we need you to help us with!'

    Thankyou
